MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION

Kampfgruppe Schottland (KGS) is open to new members joining who share an interest in the hobby of Living History and re-enactment whether you are experienced or brand new to the hobby. For the experienced re-enactor our group is run on a less formal basis with the majority of our time being spent trying to make the group more enjoyable and socialising more. We also offer the choice of joining a Fallschirmjäger unit or a Panzergrenadier unit. In time you may wish to portray both units.

INFORMATION FOR PEOPLE NEW TO THE HOBBY

Re-enactment sounds a lot of fun and it is however, as with every hobby there are a few considerations you should be aware of. Here is a quick run down of things to consider before you make the choice of whether this really is a hobby for you.

COST - Re-enactment is not a cheap hobby however we do have uniform lists to help you start off in the hobby, however please note the following :-

WARNING! If you are interested in joining please don't rush off & start buying uniform or equipment as you are likely to find you have purchased items that will not meet the standards of the KGS! Contact us first to find out what is acceptable and from which suppliers

Our own joining fee is £30 per year from the 1st Jan to 31st Dec, which also covers insurance via the group.

WEAPONS

Re-enactors are permitted to use DEACTIVATED or REPLICA weapons for display and BLANK-FIRING weapons for battle re-enactments. We are governed by the VCR Bill Oct 2007. To read the bill please click here   VCR Bill in full   Again these weapons are very expensive and can only be purchased if you ARE already a member of a recognised group.

OTHER CONSIDERATIONS

TIME and TRAVEL

At this time most of the big re-enactment shows are based in England so for those people living in Scotland this may require the odd weekend away and a fair bit of travelling. KGS is based in Scotland where most of our training days or weekends and monthly meets take place. Where we are more than happy to accept members from across the UK we do ask that you bear this in mind as the hobby will require a few weekends away from your family and a fair amount of travelling at some point.

COMMITMENT

Re-enactment does require a fair amount of commitment from members. Our primary aim at this time is to promote our hobby in Scotland by attending events and making new friends in the wider re-enacting world. This requires a large amount of commitment from the members whether it be helping with transport, building displays, and continuing to increase the range of equipment we have to display at events. We do require that members attend as many public events with KGS as possible.

HOW DO I JOIN

OK, so you've read all of the above and I hope you are still interested in becoming a member. You can do this by emailing our membership secretary at   Membership Secretary or by using the contact us form at the top of the page or on the left sidebar and requesting our application form which we will email to you in Microsoft Word format. Simply print off the application form, fill it out and send it back. If you need further information you can email us with any questions you wish to ask.
