about kampfgruppe schottland ~ kgs

At this time Kampfgruppe Schottland (KGS) is the only German WWII re-enactment and living history group based in Scotland. A number of members of KGS had previously joined English-based groups where WWII re-enactment is well established with a variety of both Allied and Axis units being represented. In time these individuals got together and in November 2009 decided to form KGS with the aims of contributing to WWII living History to Scotland, raising the awareness of the public to the conditions the German ‘Landser’ operated in, and to have a lot of fun and enjoyment whilst participating in the hobby.

We attempt to portray the German soldiers’ way of life, uniforms and equipment and combat tactics by way of our static displays and battle re-enactments offering the public a historically accurate portrayal filled with educational references and entertainment.

The units we represent are the fallschirmjäger and panzergrenadieren as they were involved in nearly all of the campaigns across all theatres of war in which German forces participated. The Panzer Lehr Division fought in Normandy alongside more than one of the Fallschirmjäger Divisions fighting in that campaign in opposition to the British, Canadian, and US units forming part of the largest seaborne invasion in history.

The majority of our meetings, events and training weekends are held in Scotland where we have participated in shows at East Fortune, Stirling Castle, and Harthill. We organise our own training weekends during which we take the advantage to develop a greater understanding of the German soldier’s way of life, uniforms and equipment and tactical skills by way of our static displays and battle re-enactments to enable us to offer the public a historically accurate portrayal filled with educational references and entertainment. We also feel it is very important to have as much fun as we possibly can and enjoy the social aspect of sharing our hobby with likeminded friends.

We as a group are always open to new members so please do not hesitate to contact us if you are interested.
